Buried Treasure is the new label set up by Jonathan Radford and Alan Gubby, two UK producers with a fine pedigree in creating floor friendly funk, edits, remixes & electronic grooves, or better known as Diesler & Jung Collective.
The 1st release is a 7” single featuring ‘You’re Not Dead’ by Diesler featuring Double Yellow on vocals, with Back To School (Gubz Rub) by Hugh Turner Quartet.
Having had his first release in 2003 with Tru Thoughts’ ‘Shapes One’ compilation, Diesler has gone on to release 4 studio albums, remix over 50 artists, perform as a DJ and with a live 9 piece band across the UK & Europe gained support from tastemakers including Zane Lowe (BBC Radio 1), Gilles Peterson (BBC 6Music) & Mr. Scruff (Ninja Tune).
On the debut Buried Treasure release Diesler teams up with long-time collaborator Double Yellow, who’s debut album, ‘Life In The Slow Lane’ was released to critical acclaimed last year, on the achingly cool indie funk track ‘You’re Not Dead’.
On the flip, Hugh Turner Quartet showcases some of the UK’s finest jazz players, serving up mean, hard-edged, funk with “Back To School” (Gubz Rub). Featuring Hugh Turner, Frank Tontoh, Jerry Soffe & Toliy Vyacheslavov, these incredible musicians have played with Amy Winehouse, Idjut Boys, Jazz Warriors, Lamont Dozier, Al Green, Edwyn Collins, Down To The Bone, Gabrielle, US3 & more.
Produced by Alan Gubby (Nanny Tango / Jung Collective) who has recorded for labels such as Tru Thoughts, Leaf, Soul Jazz, Cup Of Tea & Trunk, “Back To School” is the first of several hard hitting grooves by the quartet currently in production.
